Chris. What beautiful thoughts! So many doubts, so often. I love that you gave me some closure with Merton, I kind of needed that :).

Thanks for another great read, Chris. I have found that the older I get, the less I really know and understand about this walk of faith. And I am absolutely fine with that. One of my favorite Rachel Held Evans quotes is, “I am writing because sometimes we are closer to the truth in our vulnerability than in our safe certainties." Amen!

The “poster” for me from the Bible is the man who responded to Jesus when asked if he believed that his son could be healed. The man responded “ I do believe, Lord help me with my unbelief!” To me unbelief can be synonymous with doubt. The man really wanted to believe but he knew deep down that there was doubt. He so wanted it to be true and yet was probably scared to get his hopes up. BUT GOD, honored what faith (and doubt) the man brought to the table and healed his son. I never get tired of reading these types of accounts from the Bible. They give this very imperfect man (me) great hope and assurance. Much love brother.

Chris, you have given me so much food for thought. I am a skeptical doubter full of doubts. Maybe it’s my way of rejecting what was imposed on me from without. Meditation is something I’m working on. It’s difficult to rest my mind and truly go within. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.
